Meet Eugene Gruber

Eugene Gruber, Navajo silversmith/artist

Eugene Gruber is a Navajo artist and his wife, Deidre, are pictured below.  Eugene is very talented and I have been impressed with every piece he has made.  I am very fortunate to be able to represent this young man as his only online representative.

Here is Eugene's bio as written by himself:

My name is Eugene Gruber. I'm 24 years old from Crownpoint, New Mexico. I'm a Native American from the Navajo tribe. I'm married to Deidre Gruber and I have a daughter named Mikalynne Gruber. I started to make jewelry when I was about 13 years old. That's when my father started to teach me, and I've been doing it ever since. I've learned a lot through the years and I'm still learning every day. My designs are a mix of the old traditional style with a mix of my own style and designs. I come up with the design as I go. I don't draw it out or anything it just comes to me. Here in New Mexico the landscape is beautiful and the mountains are also. So everything around me inspires me with what I come up with. Like if its snowing outside I come up with something that represents purity, because the snow is white and pure. I don't have a particular design that I stick with. I try to make everything that I make unique in its own way. Every time I come up with something I try to make it better than the last thing I made. When I finish a jewelry piece I always say "Live in Harmony and Walk in Beauty" wishing that whoever buys it will. My father says that also and it stuck with me. My father is a preacher he has been through out my whole life. He makes jewelry also. My mother makes silver necklaces also. In my spare time I enjoy playing my guitar, working on vehicles, welding, wood burning, I'm getting into beadwork, and especially spending time with my family. Each piece I make is hand made by me. I cut and shape my own stones from the rough material it comes in. I also shape and cut the silver by hand that way it is truly hand made without having a machine do it for me. I enjoy making jewelry and I will continue to do it as long as I can. I thank all of you for your support. I express myself through my jewelry and I hope you all enjoy it.

Eugene Gruber's work is found throughout our online catalog.  Eugene will custom make items for you, working with your ideas and designs to try and produce the custom piece that is exactly what you have been looking for.  If you would like more information please feel free to contact us.
